Our mission has always been to help organisations create the world’s best workplaces through learning that inspires. We believe that creating one of the world’s best workplaces goes hand in hand with a commitment to environmental sustainability. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our membership with 1% for the Planet, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) journey.

what is One Percent for the Planet?

Founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet is a global organisation that connects businesses and individuals with environmental non-profits. Members commit to donating at least 1% of their annual sales directly to approved environmental organisations, ensuring that their contributions drive real, on-the-ground change.

The primary goals of 1% for the Planet include:

accelerating environmental giving
Encouraging businesses and individuals to commit a portion of their revenues to environmental causes.

building a global network
Connecting members with approved environmental partners to facilitate impactful collaborations.

ensuring accountability
Certifying that donations are directed to vetted non-profits, providing transparency and credibility to the giving process.

impact & supported projects

Since its inception, 1% for the Planet has facilitated over $500 million in environmental giving, supporting a diverse array of projects worldwide. These initiatives encompass various environmental focus areas. From preservation and restoration projects supporting causes protecting natural habitats and biodiversity. Climate change mitigation investing into renewable and sustainable energy practices, to environmental education programs to raise awareness and promote environmental stewardship.

Many esteemed companies have joined the 1% for the Planet movement, demonstrating that environmental responsibility is integral to business excellence. For instance, Patagonia has donated over $140 million to environmental causes since 1985.

As well as the Surfrider Foundation, which focuses on ocean and coastal preservation, and The Conservation Alliance, dedicated to protecting wild places.

By joining 1% for the Planet, Mindboost pledges to donate 1% of our annual sales to environmental non-profits that align with our core values. This commitment reflects our belief that creating outstanding workplaces extends beyond internal practices and encompasses our responsibility to sustainability.

“Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members are doing vital work to increase giving and support on-the-ground action.
