beyond the algorithm
If you take a step back and look at the current digital learning landscape, there’s an overwhelming trend that’s hard to ignore. Conversations across the industry are dominated by talk of platforms, automation, AI, and end-to-end solutions. These innovations are exciting and often game-changing, but they also raise an important question: Where is the human element in all of this? Owen Worts, Creative Director at Mindboost, shared his sense of urgency. While acknowledging the impressive advancements in AI-driven, end-to-end solutions, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the soul of learning was being overshadowed. In a recent post, Owen expressed his concern:
“From where I stand, there’s a strong industry shift toward AI-driven, end-to-end solutions, often relying on templated formats and ‘one-size-fits-all’ approaches. Now, this might sound a bit controversial, but I have to ask: where’s the soul gone?”
At Mindboost, we believe that learning is not just about data points and algorithms; it’s about people. It’s about the emotions, connections, and human interactions that make learning meaningful. As Owen aptly puts it, “Learning is about growth. It’s about gaining knowledge, improving ourselves, and enhancing how we relate to the world and people around us. It should be something we want to do – not something we endure.”
In a landscape increasingly dominated by AI and automation, it’s easy to forget that learning is a deeply human experience. It’s about sparking curiosity, fostering empathy, and building relationships. These are the elements that truly engage learners and drive lasting change.
At Mindboost, we are committed to putting people at the heart of learning. We design bespoke digital learning experiences that are grounded in years of expertise and shaped through close collaboration with every client. Our approach is not about fitting learners into a pre-designed mold, it’s about crafting experiences that resonate with them as individuals.
The future of learning is not about replacing humans with machines; it’s about using technology to enhance human potential. It’s about creating learning experiences that are as dynamic, diverse, and unique as the people who engage with them.
We must remember that being human is our superpower. And that’s why learning experiences must connect and celebrate our humanity to empower us to grow, connect, and thrive. Because when learning is designed for people, everyone benefits.
