BaxterStorey had gone through a dramatic makeover, they reinvented their brand and identity to mirror the huge growth and change they had undergone as an organisation. The new identity connects with who they are and what they stand for.

the challenge

One of the main challenges facing BaxterStorey was ensuring that this amazing culture and ethos was reflected from the very start of an employee’s journey. Onboarding processes can be dull and un-inspiring, with some actually causing a negative impact on the learner at the start of their journey with a new employee. BaxterStorey shares similar values as Mindboost, and wanting to create the world’s best workplaces where employees flourish and can be their best selves requires change. Thinking about the knowledge gap and what you want team members to feel, rather than what information needs to be presented. BaxterStorey wanted to ensure employees felt like they belonged and to be proud of being part of the company. 

Another challenge for Mindboost (and also one our favourite part) is translating this knowledge and “feeling” into extraordinary design and content. There is only so much a learner wants to be exposed to and only so much they can absorb. Organisations risk onboarding becoming white noise during the start of a new employee’s journey. We don’t do cookie-cutter approaches at Mindboost, it is never a one-size-fits-all approach. We had to connect to the organisation and discover the organisation’s true ambitions and what they wanted to achieve.

We used the Mindboost Magic to create a bespoke onboarding experience for BaxterStorey, beautifully designed and full of active and engaging content. Be that incredibly written emotive words, gorgeous graphics or using drone footage and interviews, all of this is to connect with the learner emotionally. We had to ensure the visual identity and the language aligned with the BaxterStorey brand and aligned to the subject.

We travelled the length of the country from Edinburgh to Portsmouth, capturing the real stories and real emotions of the BaxterStorey teams. We wanted to shed light on what it means for them to be part of the organisation and more importantly – what it meant to BaxterStorey that they had chosen to flourish with them.

Beautiful

Of course the incredible graphics, highly talented drone pilot and fantastic forms of media help deliver the message. But it is the real stories and real people that make BaxterStorey such an incredible company. We wanted to create innovative and engaging ideas that enrich their employee experience. Highlight BaxterStorey’s inclusivity, innovation and expertise.

Simple

The hero piece of the programme was a cutting-edge interactive walk-through video connecting their most iconic locations from Portsmouth to Edinburgh. We create innovative solutions to streamline and enrich employee onboarding and development using a combination of fast-paced and engaging media. Not only did this give new employees a vibrant and enjoyable induction to follow, but we also created a scalable and replicable model for future team members to benefit from.

Baxter Storey are on a journey to set the standard for inclusivity within hospitality and we are honoured to be part of that journey with them. It is because of this that BaxterStorey see Mindboost as an extension of their L&D team, offering support and innovation throughout their journey.
