the solution
from checklist to culture
When you hear ‘health and safety’ what do you think of? Hard hats? Policy documents? Safety posters? Compass is doing more than creating checklists and putting out hazard signs. They are creating a culture that cares about its people, because when all is said and done, everyone wants to go home healthy and safe at the end of the day. They have a ‘See, Care, Share’ scheme that encourages all team members to work together to keep each other safe.
For managers to really feel this message and be part of the culture, Mindboost encourage them to reflect on their role in health and safety and the role they play in motivating their teams throughout the learning experience. We use a range of reflective exercises, engaging interactions and imagery that reflects teamwork. This was a huge shift in approach from the old HSE training course.
a new look
For a learning experience to connect with an audience, it should resonate with them personally, and a brand identity is one of the ways a person feels they are part of company and something bigger than their day-to-day role. We wanted people to look at this training and think “This speaks to me.” From there, people can start to feel motivated by the message, engaged with the subject and confident in their abilities.
Mindboost created a new, fresh, vibrant look that reflects the Compass brand and their ambition for a caring culture. We used animated elements, media, and interesting interactions to breathe life into the messaging.
updating the technology
With such a broad audience, the technology behind the digital learning experience needed to meet a range of different needs. Some managers use a tablet or a personal phone to access training while others use work laptops and computers. There’s a huge range of digital literacy, and many managers are time poor.
Mindboost used Adapt Authoring Tool to rebuild the Health and Safety training into a seamless, frictionless digital experience that works across devices. It can be easily accessed from anywhere via Compass’s Learning Management System and doesn’t need to be completed in one sitting – it’ll remember where each manager got to. The learning is now much smoother to access, experience and complete.
the impact
After retiring their old HSE training, Compass were left with a potentially dangerous gap. Managers needed to know about their roles and responsibilities quickly, at the touch of a button, but there was no digital learning available. Since working with Mindboost, Compass now have a learning experience that is updated in message, visual design and technology. The learning now reflects the company’s brand and culture, and will continue to evolve as they do.
