Nestle Health Science are a global leader in health and nutrition. They manufacture and sell vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements across the world. Central to their mission is to empower those working in health stores and pharmacies with the product knowledge and skills to sell the right products to the right people. Their brands include, Solgar, Nature’s Bounty, Minami, Nuun and Vital Proteins, Pure Encapsulations.
the challenge
Nestle Health Science have an extended enterprise Totara LMS and their users are health store workers and pharmacists. They have a suite of sleek, modern, interactive learning content on their LMS, developed by Mindboost. However, the journey to access this content from the LMS was outdated, clunky and generic.
With great content but no journey, Nestle Health Science were left with some questions: How can learners access the right content for them? How can they find what they’re looking for quickly? What will inspire them to upskill, explore and discover more about our brands and products?

the solution
Most LMS’s are limited in terms of out-of-the-box interface design so creating beautifully designed homepages and course pages is tricky. Mindboost took a tailored approach. We developed bespoke, branded pages that clearly guide learners through their journey from logging in to accessing learning content.
personalisation
A key consideration in designing the LMS experience was personalisation. From the moment users log in, a friendly tone is established by greeting them with their name. Then, learners can easily track their unique progress through the course content which has been assigned to them based on their role. As well as interactive learning content, they are also given access to technical, detailed resourced as this may be preferable to their learning style.
Personalisation can reduce cognitive overload by filtering out unnecessary information or content that learners have already completed. This tailored approach aims to keep learners engaged without feeling overwhelmed, making the entire learning experience more efficient and enjoyable.
visual design
A lot hangs on the visual design of an experience like this. All of the LMS content is optional to users so the visual design needs to really entice them and make them curious to access the content.
Mindboost created a clean, intuitive, modern design in line with company branding that showcases each brand. The new design streamlined the number of clicks to content and is created to be scalable so that new learning content can be added over time.
rewards
To boost engagement, Mindboost have implemened a reward system that sits front and centre on the homepage. Learners are awarded badges and free products for completing learning content. Seeing rewards immediately on the homepage acts as real-time feedback, which also helps learners understand their progress.
Rewards like badges, points, or certificates provide extrinsic motivation, which can help learners get started or stay consistent, especially when intrinsic motivation is low.
