Learning Live 24

The LPI’s Learning Live 2024

The Mindboost team spent an amazing 2 days in London for this year’s Learning Live Conference organised by The LPI. Learning Live featured several insightful sessions that dove deeper into the challenges and opportunities faced by the L&D community, with a particular focus on AI integration, engagement, leadership development, ROI & Impact, and diversity and inclusion. After 2 days of inspiring talks and amazing conversations, we wanted to give you the insight into what we discovered at Learning Live.

1. AI Integration and Learning Innovation

“How Microsoft Copilot is changing the way we learn”: This session was highly anticipated as it focused on the transformative role of AI in learning. The discussion demonstrated how tools like Microsoft Copilot are integrating AI to personalise learning experiences and automate repetitive tasks, enabling L&D professionals to focus on creating value-added content. The focus was on efficiency and the ability of AI to adapt learning to the individual needs of employees.

“Driving Strategic Organisational Efficiencies with AI-powered Adaptive Learning”: Another crucial session on AI focused on how adaptive learning powered by AI and data analytics is shaping strategic decisions. Participants were encouraged to explore how AI can help drive better learning outcomes, improve retention rates, and provide real-time feedback

“Closing the Workforce Readiness Gap with AI-powered Talent Development”: This session highlighted how AI can help organisations bridge the skills gap, ensuring employees are equipped with the necessary capabilities to thrive in an AI-enhanced workplace. The conversation centred around how AI-powered tools can assess skills gaps and offer personalised training.

The main take away for us is that no matter how incredible AI tools become, and how efficient they can make some aspects of our life – they will never be able to replace our human super powers of feeling and genuine connections.

2. Engagement and Human Skills

“Lost in Automation: Is Learning Content Losing the Human Touch?”: With the rise of automation in L&D, this session tackled whether the shift to digital learning is eroding personal connections in learning experiences. The panellists argued that while AI and automation enhance scalability, they also stressed the importance of humanising digital learning by incorporating mentorship, collaborative tools, and interactive content to ensure learners remain engaged.

3. Leadership Development

“An Inside Look: Leveraging AI for Leadership Development”: This session discussed how organisations can use AI to create leadership programmes that foster the development of future leaders. It explored how AI-driven data insights can help tailor development programmes to the specific needs of individuals, enabling more effective and personalised leadership growth strategies.

“Mindset Matters Most: Leadership Development”: Focused on the importance of mindset in leadership, this session emphasised that while AI and data-driven learning are crucial, human qualities such as resilience, empathy, and adaptability remain vital for leadership development.

4. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

“Designing for Inclusion and Equity”: A powerful session that addressed how to create learning environments that are accessible and fair for all employees. Panellists shared best practices on how to design training that caters to a diverse workforce, promoting a culture of inclusivity through thoughtful, inclusive content.

“DEI in Action: Empowering Inclusivity Through Learning”: This session offered a real-world perspective on how learning can actively contribute to diversity and inclusion goals. It showcased how different organisations are implementing programmes to support inclusivity, particularly through inclusive learning design and policies that ensure equal opportunities for learning.

5. ROI and Impact Measurement

Measuring Impact and ROI: Why it doesn’t matter and what you should be doing”: This session sparked debates on the traditional ways of measuring ROI in learning. Instead of focusing solely on financial returns, the panellists suggested alternative metrics such as learner engagement, skill acquisition, and long-term performance improvement. They urged L&D professionals to think beyond conventional ROI models to truly understand the value of their programmes

Learning Live was packed with rich content, providing attendees with actionable insights on how to navigate the future of learning with technology, inclusivity, and human-centric strategies at the forefront. Caleb Foster Digital Learning Geek
After gaining more than 20 years of experience in operational excellence in the hospitality and digital learning sectors, Caleb wanted to rid the world of dull ‘click next’ and ineffective elearning and solve the epidemic of uninspiring digital learning. Mindboost began back in 2016, when Caleb, saw a huge opportunity to create better quality digital learning content that connects with learners emotionally to encourage a desire to learn more. Caleb realised there was a lack of true understanding of an organisation’s culture and inner-working when learning providers were presented with a request from a client. So, the Mindboost team get under the cover of an organisation’s performance need and ultimately look to connect with learners emotionally. When a learner is connected emotionally, they tend to start believing in a change, this then generates a feeling and makes a greater impact within the organisation than just conveying information.
