How do you think of achieving business and personal growth?

First of all, you need to think bigger, 10x bigger, rather than incremental change and modest increases. Most businesses and people measure success on modest incremental improvements. However these days with technological improvements and rapidly changing environments and opportunities we need to think 10x bigger.

Technological capability is growing exponentially, however, most of us struggle to think exponentially.

Moonshot Thinking

Having a moonshot mindset means applying 10x thinking to everything you do. This means thinking about a purpose bigger than just the tasks you want to carry out. Think bigger.

Massive Transformational Purpose

What is your purpose and how will it change the world?

At Mindboost our MTP is “to create the world’s best workplace, ensuring everyone finds their best selves and thrives.”. This is massive and a statement most people would snigger at. If that’s the case you know it’s an MTP. it could feel ‘pie in the sky’, but if you believe in it and believe it’s the right thing you are emotionally connected with the idea. The next step is to work out the people you need to help you achieve your massive transformational purpose.

Who do you need?

Working out who you need is a real challenge, but infinitely more achievable than working out how you will achieve your MTP.

If you try to work out how you are going to achieve your MTP it’s hard to imagine and therefore dismissed as a pipe dream. If however, you work out who you need to support you to get towards your MTP you can imagine achieving great things together and connecting with the MTP emotionally and getting excited about it.

People actively come together for a purpose they believe in, rather than a task that needs completing.

Lead the thinking

To keep people on the 10x path and focussed on the purpose needs great leadership and encouragement. This is an art in itself, but if you believe in the purpose rather than the tasks this definitely make’s the purpose enjoyable.

Give your team congratulations for 10X thinking, no matter how insane their ideas are. Remember thoughts and voices can be fragile. If you show the slightest disdain for someones ideas and thought process they won’t suggest things so easily next time and the team may revert to incremental thinking rather than 10x.

Once you instill the idea that weird and big ideas are great, you’re ready to show the team that you value honesty. Work with everyone to explore whether an idea can work, or if there are any fatal flaws. The great thing is if the team believes the idea has no flaws and can operate 10x you’re onto something. If they think there is a fatal flaw you congratulate them for thinking 10x and move on to the next crazy idea to follow your purpose.

Crazy ideas often produce the best 10x businesses. You just need people to think 10x.

Create actionable steps

For Mindboost one of the next steps after thinking 10x, creating an MTP and identifying who can support was to start getting the message out. One of our key routes to this is to use a podcast to achieve this. “mindboost. Moments” is our initiative to engage in conversation and seek out ways to create a better place to live and work.

It’s easier with a purpose

In our experience as soon as we committed our purpose to paper, we believed in it. Once we believed in our purpose, everything we do is geared to achieving it and adds value to our mindsets of perceived success and failure.

Caleb Foster Digital Learning Geek
After gaining more than 20 years of experience in operational excellence in the hospitality and digital learning sectors, Caleb wanted to rid the world of dull ‘click next’ and ineffective elearning and solve the epidemic of uninspiring digital learning. Mindboost began back in 2016, when Caleb, saw a huge opportunity to create better quality digital learning content that connects with learners emotionally to encourage a desire to learn more. Caleb realised there was a lack of true understanding of an organisation’s culture and inner-working when learning providers were presented with a request from a client. So, the Mindboost team get under the cover of an organisation’s performance need and ultimately look to connect with learners emotionally. When a learner is connected emotionally, they tend to start believing in a change, this then generates a feeling and makes a greater impact within the organisation than just conveying information.
