Mamas & Papas are a beloved name in the UK childcare industry. Born in 1981 as a small family-run business in Huddersfield, providing valuable support and products for every parent and caregiver. Fast forward to today, Mams & Papas is a global business, an industry–leading brand with over 60 stores across the UK, selling across 30 countries worldwide, supported by a dedicated team of more than 1,000 colleagues. Mamas & Papas are known for their unwavering passion for parenting, they’re all about inspiring and supporting parents and their people to be the best that they can be.
the challenge
Unlike some of the more ‘old school’ digital learning in the ED&I space, BaxterStorey aren’t interested in regurgitating policies of legal statements. They want to shift attitudes and change behaviour. They want to go beyond legal definitions and make a real difference to the lives of their people.
This was music to our ears at Mindboost. We knew we had to go beyond delivering a theoretical understanding, and to create a feeling, encouraging learners to “think it, be it, do it” – to reflect on their experience and how they can impact the memorable experiences of others.
the solution
The Mindboost experts wanted to create an onboarding module that celebrates all that is great about being part of Mamas and Papas. As well as highlighting the importance of inspiring and supporting parents and caregivers, we wanted to highlight what an inclusive, exciting and rewarding working environment it is to be a part of. Mindboost always aims to go beyond delivering a theoretical understanding, and to create a genuine sense of feeling, encouraging learners to “think it, be it, do it” – to reflect on their experience and how they can impact the memorable experiences of others.
The onboarding project offers 30 minutes of engaging, uplifting and inspiring content focused on four core topics Loving Life at Mamas & Papas, A Great Place to Be, A Great Place to Thrive, and Making an Impact. It is designed for both new colleagues and existing team members to reinforce the sense of pride in being part of Mamas & Papas. By understanding the company’s purpose every colleague can help shape “the course and the destination for Mamas & Papas in the future”. The intention was to create a sense of what success means and looks like for Mamas & Papas and give all colleagues a tangible sense of how they can support everyone in achieving it.

It gives colleagues a insight into the future and a real sense of belonging through a shared purpose.
